Ray Price (1926-2013) was a great and famous country music singer, country song writer and guitarist.
As a "pure" Texan, he lived in his ranch in Mount Pleasant,TX and was professionally linked to Nashville,TN: He became a member of the Nashville Grand Ole Opry in the early 50s. Ray was inducted in the Nashville Hall of Fame in 1996 at 70 years old:
Of course, he performed, during many tours all over America, and particularly in Las Vegas,NV during the 70s in many major showrooms venues: Aladdin, Sahara, Flamingo... however not at the Sphere in Paradise,NV, which was built 10 years after his death.
Ray was a prolific country singer, musician and songwriter. Actually, I don't have a complete list of his works... however here's a very long playlist totalling 635 recordings (however, some are repeted in the list as they are appearing in several albums). Here's this huge playlist:
I was still in college when I heard on the radio one of Ray's songs which came back again and again and I loved it so much that I'm still remembering its lyrics... but partially after 50 years! Of course I forgot both the song title and who the singer was. But two weeks ago...
But two weeks ago, YouTube pushed to me different renditions of the English Renaissance song Greensleeves, all with the traditional lyrics. And... you know what?
